Hi There!

Welcome!  Small Talk Communication Consultants is a privately owned and operated speech and language therapy clinic in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Headed by Katie Zirk, M.Sc.,S-LP, we offer services to children from preschool through high school.  We provide group training and consultative services to parents, community programs and early childhood centers. We are certified Hanen Trainers for Learning Language and Loving It.

Katie's expertise in mentoring and training for caregivers and teachers has been recognized with contracts with the Ministry of Education and SaskPolytechnic.

Everyone’s needs are different. At Small Talk Communication Consultants we provide services based on the belief that everyone can learn and that everyone should be given the opportunity for reaching their potential. Our mission is  " to help all children reach her or his potential."  Through skilled assessment, careful planning, direct services, collaboration, education and mentoring, we help families and caregivers make the most of their child's gifts. We work with schools, day cares, and community based programs to develop plans which support a child's development.

We have a great deal of experience working with children whose communication deficits affect emotions and behavior.  We enjoy working to unravel the complexities of expressive language, comprehension, processing and social language disorders.

Over 30 years of experience working in urban, rural and First Nation Schools as well as residential treatment program serving at risk youth, has provided opportunities to develop a broad skill set.  Therapy is carried out with an understanding and respect for cultural differences.

For children with speech and language disorders and difficulties life can be challenging.  With targeted assessment, goal based therapy and a little work, together we can make it easier. Together we develop program plans that will allow for therapies to go beyond our time together and into everyday situations in the real world.

I love working with Katie! I have been blessed to have worked alongside her over the years providing treatment to children requiring both speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Katie has a wealth of knowledge related to speech and language development and her fun and relaxed manner instantly puts children and families at ease. What I admire most is her ability to relate to families and look at the big picture! By working closely with families she determines what is most important for the child and his family and how they can work on goals within their day in a playful and functional way.

Katie cares deeply about supporting her clients and is always looking for additional ways to access more community resources in order to “wrap around” families.

I am so excited for families that get the opportunity to work with Katie! Without a doubt they are in excellent hands!
